getquin tracks shares only
getquin prices your holdings live and reports what each has returned. For tracking a share portfolio it works well, and it costs nothing.
It does not record your property, your mortgage or your cash, and it does not estimate when you could retire. WealthScout tracks shares in the same detail, updates prices during the trading day, and records the rest of your assets and debts alongside them.
Who owns an asset changes the tax you pay on it
getquin presents a single wealth view in which every asset is treated as yours. That works until part of your wealth is held by a trust, a company or a retirement structure.
In WealthScout every asset belongs to an owner. The projection calculates the tax on returns while the asset stays with that owner, and the tax charged again when money is paid out to a person. Two people with the same total net worth can get different retirement estimates because of it.
WealthScout records a property in detail, not as one figure
In getquin you add a property manually as an item and update its value manually from then on. It is stored as a single figure.
WealthScout records the value, the mortgage, the rent, the running costs and the legal owner. From those it calculates the return on the property before and after tax, and you can model selling it to see how the projection changes.
The projection uses the figures you already track
You confirm the figures once a month, and every projection uses those figures. Nothing is retyped, so it does not become out of date the week after you build it.
Add a move, a career break or school fees to the timeline, and see how the estimated retirement year changes. Later you can compare what actually happened with what you projected, and see which assets caused the difference.
Common questions
What is the main difference between getquin and WealthScout?
getquin tracks shares only, well and free. WealthScout tracks shares in the same detail with prices that update automatically, and also records property, debt and asset owners, then projects all of it to estimate when you could retire.
Does WealthScout link to brokers like getquin?
No. Broker connections are one thing getquin does that WealthScout does not. In WealthScout you upload a file from your broker and check each trade before it is saved. Share and crypto prices then update automatically, so your holdings stay at current market value.
Which product is better for share tax work?
WealthScout. It records every trade, dividend and cost, records an owner for each holding, and produces factual summaries of your realised gains and investment income. getquin shows tax and cost figures inside its portfolio view, without those underlying records.
Which product is better for a full net worth plan?
WealthScout. Its projection uses the shares, property, cash, debt, income and spending you already track, calculates the tax charged when money is paid out to a person, and lets you compare what actually happened with what you projected.
